What we supply
- Helmet
- Life jacket, worn from the base to the finish
- Paddle
- Wetsuit — the Köprü stays cold even in high summer, which is the point of it
What to wear on the transfer
Swimsuit under a T-shirt and shorts is the simple answer. You change at the riverside base, but starting the day already in your swimsuit saves the queue.
Footwear is the thing people get wrong. Shoes must fasten to your feet: trainers you do not mind soaking, or sandals with a heel strap. Flip-flops come off in moving water, and the riverbank is rock.
What to pack
- A towel and a full change of dry clothes for after — you will want them.
- Sunscreen. The canyon is shaded in places and open in others, and the water reflects.
- A little cash for drinks at lunch and at the canyon cafes, which are not in the price.
- Sunglasses with a strap, if you wear them. Without one, they go in the river.
What to leave at the hotel
Phones, wallets, watches, jewellery and anything with a screen. There is nowhere dry in a raft, no lockable dry bag is provided, and a swim stop is exactly where a pocket empties itself.
If you want photographs of yourself on the water, the base team films and photographs the run and offers the set afterwards for a fee. That is not included in the tour price, and we do not set what it costs.
Glasses, contact lenses and hats
A strap or a cord is the difference between keeping your glasses and watching them go. Contact lenses are fine for most people, but a splash is a splash — bring a spare pair if you depend on them.
A cap will not survive the run. Keep it for lunch.
