The two lists, exactly as we hold them
We sell two tours and they carry slightly different wording. Rather than merge them into one tidy sentence, here they are as written.
- The rafting day in Köprülü Canyon: not recommended for pregnant women, for people with back or heart problems, or for anyone who has had surgery recently.
- The Tazı Canyon combo: not advised for pregnant guests, or for those with back, heart or neck conditions.
The Tazı Canyon combo is the stricter booking
Read the lists side by side and one difference stands out: the combo names neck conditions and the river day does not. It is the only tour of the two that does, and we are not going to quietly drop it because it costs us a booking.
Our practical position, stated as ours rather than dressed up as a rule: if any item on either list applies to you, treat it as a reason to ask before you book, whichever tour you were looking at. We are not going to argue that a neck problem matters on one day out and not on the other, and we would rather you had that conversation with a doctor than with a booking form.
What these lists actually are — and what they are not
They are the conditions under which we run a commercial river trip. They are not a medical opinion, they are not exhaustive, and nobody on our team is qualified to tell you whether your own back, your own heart or your own recovery makes this a bad idea. Only the person who knows your history can say that.
There is a second thing they are not: a fitness test. Nothing in our record describes how physically demanding the paddling is, so we do not publish a fitness threshold, a stamina claim or a "you should be able to" sentence. We would only be making it up, and a made-up standard is worse than none because people measure themselves against it.
Is there a maximum age?
None is established, so none is published. We are not going to print an upper age limit that nobody at this company has ever set, and we are not going to imply one with a vague sentence about being active.
What decides it is the list above, not a birthday. A guest in good health with none of those conditions is not excluded by age on this river; a guest with a heart condition is on the list at any age. If you are unsure which of those describes you, that is exactly the question to send us before booking.
What we deliberately will not tell you
We do not publish a grade or class for the stretch we run, because we do not have one on record and a number invented for a web page is worse than no number at all. We publish no accident statistics, and we never call anything on the water guaranteed.
We also will not tell you that a condition is fine. If your question is really "is my situation an exception", the honest answer from a tour operator is that we cannot know. What we can tell you is who is in the boat, what is worn, what is included and who we ask not to come.
Where this conversation belongs
At booking, from your hotel or your sofa, with time to change your mind. Reserving costs nothing and cancelling is free up to 24 hours before the tour, so there is no financial reason to leave a health question until the morning of the transfer.
The wrong place is the riverside base. By then you are an hour of mountain road from your hotel, kitted out, with a boat waiting and a group watching. Nobody makes a calm decision in that position, and the guides should not have to make it for you.
What we ask you to tell us
Put it in the message box when you book, or send it on WhatsApp before you book: a pregnancy, a back or neck problem, a heart condition, recent surgery, or anything a doctor has told you to be careful with. It is not a form we file — it is what lets us answer honestly before your money and your day are committed.
And if the answer is that this is not the tour for you, we would rather say so. Two questions people bundle into this one have their own answers elsewhere, and both are far less restrictive than this page: the age rule, which takes everyone from seven, and what happens if somebody cannot swim. The wider safety picture — who is in the boat, what is worn, what the insurance covers — is written out separately as well, and it is worth reading beside this one.
