Two different holidays, not two versions of one
- Sea versus river: a boat trip stays on the warm coast, rafting goes inland and uphill into the Taurus Mountains.
- Warm versus cold: the Köprü is cold even in August, which is exactly why people go, and exactly why some people should not.
- Passive versus active: on a boat you choose when to move. On a raft the guide decides and you paddle when told.
- Deck versus canyon: the boat gives you the horizon, the river gives you walls of rock on both sides.
Book the boat if…
…anybody in the party is happier warm, dry and seated. A boat trip flexes around a mixed group in a way rafting genuinely cannot: there is no way to sit out a rapid.
…you want the day to be restful. Our sister site runs boat trips from the Belek strip at belekboattours.com, and we would rather send you there than sell you a cold river you did not want.
Book the rafting if…
…the point of the day is to have done something. Fourteen kilometres of the Köprü with a professional guiding your boat is the part of the holiday people describe at the airport.
…you already have beach days. Most guests on this strip have plenty of sea; what they do not have is a mountain river.
Doing both in one week
This is what most families actually do, and the order matters more than people expect. Put the rafting on a day when everyone has slept, and the boat trip on the day after — it is the better recovery of the two.
Do not stack them on consecutive mornings if you have young children. Two full days out of the hotel back to back is where holidays start to feel like work.
